Vatican Tours
OFFICIAL TOUR OF THE VATICAN WITH SISTINE CHAPEL & SAINT PETER'S BASILICA
Also early entrance tours and after-hours Vatican Tour with private guide.
Early Morning Vatican Tour allows you to be among few others inside the Museums and our Vatican After Hours Tour allows you to be alone with Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel, which has been described as ‘the best experience in Rome’.
The Vatican Museums has one of the most important collections of art and antiques and include the celebrated Sistine Chapel, painted by Michelangelo between 1508 and 1512.
A real masterpiece of High Renaissance art.
We can divide the collections and museums visits within 3 basic elements: museums, visit rooms and chapels.
There is a bit of all of them in the visit, but it is interesting to keep in mind these three options.
Vatican Museums Museo Pio-Clementino 12 delightful rooms dedicated to Greek and Roman sculptures.
Among the most well-known ones we find Apollo Belvedere, Apoxyomenos and Afrodita Cnidia.
Rooms
During our visit we can visit some of the most artistically important Vatican halls.
These rooms have been given various uses throughout history and today the public is allowed to admire their decoration, including frescoes by classic artists.
There are 3 rooms we recommend not to miss:
Raphael Rooms (4 beautiful rooms decorated with frescoes by Raphael and his acolytes), the Loggia of Raphael (a 65-metre long space full of frescoes by Raphael) and the Immaculate Room ( Podesti, XIX century, dedicated to the dogma of the Immaculate).
Of special interest is the Gallery of Maps, the world’s leading cartographic collection. The Sistine Chapel Wonderful artistic and spiritual space, the main attraction of your visit to the Vatican Museums. The number of visitors is large and the time to see it is scarce. The iconography, which has acquired universal value, offers works such as the Creation of Adam and the Last Judgement, absolute peaks in the work of Michelangelo. It is also a place that breathes history as it has been the home of the conclave that elect the Pope for centuries and from where the white smoke reveals the outcome.

The Roman Port Ostia
Ostia Antica.
The excavations of the old Roman port.
In the morning we meet at the metro stop 'Piramide' of the B-line and together we take the train to Ostia Antica, this is half an hour of traveling. (The ordinary ticket for a single use of 100 minutes is also valid for this train, provided you have taken the train for the course of the 100 minutes). We visit the excavations of Ostia Antica. Ostia once lay at the mouth of the Tiber River and was the port city of ancient Rome. It is the third best preserved city after Pompei and Herculaneum. Here you will learn more about everyday life in antiquity, because we can still see the remains of the theater, the baths, the laundries, public toilets, temples, blocks of flats, villas, trade offices, grain mills and storage rooms. In antiquity, the visit to the bathhouses took about one and a half to two hours - what happened during such a visit? How did the theater performances go? Were there major differences between Greek and Roman theater performances? How did the public toilets for shared use look like? Was an apartment building from antiquity very different from the buildings of today? When was the brick invented and did they use cement? Did they have windows with glass? How was the clothing washed? After this tour there is time to picnic or buy / eat something at the self-service.
